Director's Message

The Regional Resource Centre for the North Eastern States (RRC-NE) was established in November 2005 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW), NE Division, Government of India with financial assistance from European Commission at Guwahati, Assam, to support the 8 (Eight) NE States including Sikkim for technical assistance in health sector.

Later on, the RRC-NE has been merged with National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. It was mandated to work with the States to identify core areas to be focused in the short, medium and long run and plan for further enhancing their technical and managerial capacity.

The core strategies of RRC-NE are to facilitate planning, supporting and monitoring of all health related programmes and activities in NE States particularly different health related programmes under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) which was eventually subsumed under National Health Mission (NHM) in 2013 along with National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).

Initially, Public Health, Civil and Architecture, Community Mobilization, Finance and Audit, Procurement and Logistics and Health Management Information System (HMIS) were the major support areas to the States during 2005-2012. The technical support areas to the States are dynamic in nature, the domains and the requirements of the States are also constantly changing. RRC NE also needs to adapt accordingly, presently RRC-NE has its in-house experts in the field of Community Processes & Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CP-CPHC), Health Care Financing (HCF), Health Care Technology (HCT), Public Health Planning & Evidence (PHP&E), and Quality and Patient Safety (Q&PS).

I would like to request all the stake holders, including the States’ authorities for better coordination for further streamlining the implementation of different schemes under National Health Mission and to help the region in improving the overall health scenario in coming days. We affirm our commitment for better health care delivery system including system reform in the NE States.
